Connection- Vineyards to Witts

I found that my Witts (Whitts) are connected through the Vineyards on my Quillin (daddy) side and to my Hulsey (mother) side. It's been fascinating to establish those connections.

John Vineyard (1791-1855)

Biography

This biography was taken from Find A Grave:[1]

John T. Vineyard was born November 22, 1791, in Virginia, the son of George Vineyard and Mary Campbell. On February 7, 1827, in Montgomery Co, Virginia,

John married Malinda Whitt who was born circa 1810 in Montgomery Co, Virginia. They were married on 6 Feb 1827 in Montgomery Co., VA. [2] John and Malinda had eight known children: George Washington Vineyard, John T. Vineyard, Jr., William Vineyard, Richard W. Vineyard, Mary Vineyard, Gordon Vineyard, Peyton Vineyard, and Malinda Vineyard.

They were still living in Montgomery County with their young family in 1830. [3]

John and his family moved to Moniteau County, Missouri and received a land patent on 10 Nov 1841. [4] They are listed in the 1850 census in Moniteau County [5]

Malinda died in Moniteau County, Missouri, and likely is also buried in Moreau Cemetery although there is no tombstone. John also died in Moniteau County, Missouri, and was buried in the Moreau Cemetery with a tombstone. John is listed at Moniteau.net as being buried at Moreau. Malinda is not listed on the website as being buried there.

John testified in probate court concerning his wife's death that his living children were John T. Vineyard, Gordon C. Vineyard, William Vineyard, Mary Vineyard, Malinda Vineyard, and George Vineyard. [6]

https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2418762/george-%26-mary-campbell-vineyard-family-cemetery

The Vineyard Cemetery is located north of Gate City. Take Red Hill Road (Virginia State Route 666) north out of Gate City. Cemetery will be on the left a little past the intersection of Red Bluff Road.

This cemetery is located on Moccasin Ridge, about 1.75 miles northwest of Gate City and is the burial place of George Vineyard and wife Mary (Campbell) who were married in Rockbridge County in 1790; their eldest son George Washington Vineyard and wife Hannah (Hart) who were married in 1827, and their eldest son John A, Vineyard and wife Elizabeth (France) who were married in 1853. All three generations lived on the Vineyard homestead at this location, from about 1835. Take Highway 666 north out of Gate City. 2/10 mile past the intersection of Red Bluff Road is a cemetery on the left, next to the road. Further back, beyond this cemetery is the Vineyard Cemetery, in a stand of trees.
