John Quillin Inherits Teague's Land

 GATE CITY, VIRGINIA

TOTAL GUESS ON THE DATE OF THIS.... 1820S?

The Quillen farm is on Route 619 and is 3.4 miles from the intersection of this road with Route 71 in Gate City. Teague Quillen V bought four tracts of land on the waters of Obey, Copper, and Plank Creeks and moved his young family here. This property was inherited by my ancestor John W. Quillen, and he lived most of his life here. John married Rebecca Lawson and they lived here until she died.  John remarried Martha Jewel and eventually, this property was transferred to John W. Quillen, Jr., the first son of John W. Quillen and Martha Jewel.
