Very sad for the historical home of my Vineyard family to burn to the ground.
Digging into our family history creates deep connections. Genealogy is about finding our roots. As we research our family tree, we realize how our lives are intertwined with the history of our great nation. My family history includes the Quillin family, the Ewing family, the McNair family, the Jones family, the Bridges family, the King family and the Hulsey family. It is an honor to share their family stories. Search each family name by clicking the labels on the bottom right side.

Words for a Person in Mourning
~ 'Words' by Ullie-Kaye
~ Art by Jennifer Yoswa
Instead of saying, "I know what it feels like",
let's say "I cannot imagine your heartbreak".
Instead of saying, "You're strong, you'll get through
this, let's say " You'll hurt, and I'll be here.
Instead of saying, "You look like you're doing well,
Let's say, "How are you holding up today?"
Instead of saying, "Healing takes time", let's say
"Healing has no timeline".
Instead of saying, "Everything happens for a reason,
let's say "This must feel so terribly senseless right now".
And when there are no words to say at all, you don't need to try and find some.
Love speaks in
silences too.

Losing Someone Who Is Still Living
I've experienced this a few times, and it is just as hard as losing someone when they die. It may be on a different level, maybe even more difficult because they are still there, just not present.
Welcome Home Post on FB
February 19, 2025 at 9:00 AM ·
When you hurt someone with a good heart, the reaction isn't
always immediate or obvious. They won’t shout, won’t make accusations, and
won’t cause a scene. They are the kind of people who carry their pain quietly,
letting it settle within them like a shadow, while still showing kindness and
compassion to everyone around them. It’s almost as if they continue on as if
nothing has changed.
But deep inside, something shifts. The way they once trusted
and valued you starts to erode, not through any dramatic event, but through a
slow, silent realization that their trust has been broken. They begin to
distance themselves, not out of anger or vengeance, but simply because they’ve
accepted the painful truth—that they can no longer give the same love and trust
they once did.
These are the people who have loved you without reservation,
who have given you their time, their energy, and their heart. When that trust
is betrayed, it doesn’t explode into chaos. It simply fades, quietly and
inevitably, because they know that they can’t sacrifice their inner peace for
someone who cannot value them the way they deserve.
They may still be kind, they may still be compassionate, but
they will never look at you the same way again. The connection will no longer
be the same. The loss of someone like this isn’t something that can be
undone—it’s an irreversible change. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, and the
space they leave is not easily filled.
So, if you have someone like this in your life, cherish
them. Appreciate them. Because once their trust in you has been shattered,
there’s no turning back. They will walk away, and they won’t look back.

B.J. Quillin's wife, Polly Sprowls
I've been fortunate with my research to not have many dead ends. But the Sprowls line is one of them. I believe her name was Mary "Polly" Ann Sprowls sp? and that she was most likely born in Bristol, Sullivan County Tennessee. The only thing that I can go on is that B.M. Quillin, "Buster", always said that Polly's mother was Millie Wright. And that she moved to Texas once Polly settled here. I have searched high and low to connect Polly with a Millie Wright. This would make her maiden name, Wright. I have found a Millie Wright in Fort Worth but can't make the connection hold.
I have a copy of Polly's death certificate, and it was signed by Mrs. Tom Bagby, which would be her daughter, Cathleen "Corintha" Melvina Quillin. Though death certificates are legal documents and hold much weight, I find that sometimes the informant truly does not know the background information.
The name on the death certificate is Mrs. Polly Ann Quillin. Her father's name and birthplace are listed as "don't know". Her mother's name is listed as Millie Wright, born in Tennessee.
A Social Security application for Millie's son is as follows. I do know that there were couple of Sprowls families lived in Seymour but I have not been able to contact them. James Matthew Sprowls was one of them.
Name | Millie Wright |
---|---|
Gender | Female |
Spouse | William D Sprowls |
Child | James Mathewmoore Sprowls |
It feels as though William D Sprowls may be connected with a Solomon or a Susannah. Sprowls has many spelling variations, and this line has just been impossible for me to connect to the past generations.
